  2. Kitchen Sink Sleeze won’t work in PA or in world politics - please tell Sen Obama to spread the message loud and clear. The rest of the country is rooting for you to save the day!!!!!!!!

  3. Lessons learned from Obama campaigning in Texas

I was a first time political volunteer here in Texas as were many of the other volunteers of my precinct and I wanted to pass on things we learned. You guys are probably more experienced and have more common sense but just in case.

First, there aren’t going to be enough signs, we never had enough here, so sign making parties are great ways to meet other supports. Also parties decorating your cars is a good way to go.

Plan on taking primary day off, the more people at the polling place the better. We had about 6, and at our particular polling place there was one Clinton supporter off an on, so that was powerful. We also maintained a good mix of young, old, male, female, and black, white, and Asian. That wasn’t really planned, just how it worked out, but I think it was good anyway.

Our biggest hit with people at the polling place were stickers, we printed our own and went through about 600 of them, we also gave them out to kids. Sticker paper at an office supply store and got the graphics off of the Obama site and added our own text. Cut the stickers out since they can’t wear election gear into the polling place.

Along with things you’ll think of, like food, drink, and chairs for being at the polling place, don’t forget sunscreen and chapstick. I also didn’t have gloves, but I’m confident that Pennsylvanians know to how stay warm. Try to make sure you have breaks in the day, it’s very difficult for one person to stay up there all day.

Canvassing door to door is the best way to connect with voters. But calling is really good as well, identify yourself as their neighbor and they are much less likely to be rude.

Finally, don’t keep everything to the last minute, it comes and goes so fast. At some point you are going to wonder why you are giving up all of your time for this but after the primary, no matter what the results, you are going to be glad you did it.

I wish you guys the very best of luck.

  4. Who can we contact if we want to buy shirts, stickers etc? I ordered from the obama site and its been back ordered for weeks. There needs to be a phone number for the headquarters in east liberty and for this site. Give me the information and forward calls to my cell phone, I will answer, but people need to be able to call and get a live breathing person that will connect them with events in their communtiy.

    Thanks
